On My Mind: I Have “Book” on My Brain

If you asked me what has been “on my mind” lately, I’d say “a million things”. If you asked me to name just one, I’d say “my book”, because it has been in every thought, or, so it seems.  This week has marked a few major milestones for my book…

1. I read through the official proof of the book, beautifully typeset to look just like…well, a book. It was complete with the title at the top of the pages, numbered endnotes, and section title pages that look so official with lovely scrolls. Not to mention, the copyright page that shows the existence of an ISBN, the fact that it has been cataloged with the Library of Congress, and that I, Kerstin Daynes, hold the copyright. Oh, and very importantly, that it will be printed on acid free paper. Thank you, Melissa Caldwell for your amazing editing and typesetting skills!!

2. I previewed the cover design for the book. It looks amazing! Thank you, Tanya Quinlan! Although I can’t show it to you yet, I will describe some of my favorite parts…

…it has my favorite color included in the design…

…it looks peaceful and inviting…

…it has a picture of hand-holding on it…

…it doesn’t look too girly…

…it has a great summary of the book and great endorsements.

3.  A prominent reproductive endocrinologist has agreed to write an endorsement for the book.  Yippee!

4.  I sold my first 5 copies of my book (well, I know of 5 already sold). You can pre-order, too (click here for more information).

All of these highlights and milestones, which have been in the past, shall not be overshadowed by the biggest day of all, which is in our future…Friday, January 15th: PRESS DATE! There are not words to describe the excitement that permeates every part of my life…this book is about to be published and 5 years of work can come to a close!! I say close, but I guess that in reality, it is opening new doors and new opportunities that I am thrilled for.

All I have to say for now is…HUZZAH!
